MHHS girls fall to Farmington in semifinals of Valley Springs tourney

The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team’s return to Valley Springs ended on a rough note as they played in the semifinals of the Jake Gray Invitational. Matt Sharp has the details.

The Lady Bombers were sent to the third place game with a 63-41 loss to Farmington. Mountain Home had a good start to the game as they scored the first seven points, but the Lady Cardinals took over from there. Farmington went into the locker room up nine at the break. The Lady Cardinals pulled further away in the second half as they forced the Lady Bombers into committing 24 turnovers for the game.

Laykin Moore led Mountain Home with 18 points. For Farmington, J’Myra London scored 14 points off the bench, and Marin Adams and Reese Shirey each added 12.

The Lady Cardinals advance to the title game with a record of 2-0. The Lady Bombers will next play Saturday at 3:45 against the loser of Thursday’s game between Clinton and Rogers Heritage.

On the consolation side of the girls’ bracket, Mountain View fell to Mayflower 49-42. Mountain View’s boys also lost to Valley Springs 64-52.
