A Norfork man has been arrested and a warrant has been issued for a woman he shares a house with after guns and money went missing from their deceased neighbor’s house. Fifty-five-year-old Steven Joseph Haarstad turned himself in at the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend. Still being sought in the case is Shelly Ann Reeves.

According to the probable cause affidavit, when the elderly victim passed away, her son and his girlfriend were cleaning the house and observed several guns along with $45,000 in cash.

When the girlfriend had to leave, Reeves was hired to continue cleaning the house.

A few months later, Reeves reported finding the son deceased in the house. Law enforcement found no cash in the house. When the second victim’s son arrived, he told investigators he had talked to his dad about a week prior to his death and he told him there were multiple guns and $30,000 cash still in the house.

Investigators were able to trace seven guns that had been pawned. A rifle and a handgun are still missing.

Haarstad is facing seven felony counts of theft of property. He is free after posting $15,000 bond.
