For the third time this year, a Baxter County woman has assaulted law officer, this time while locked up in the Baxter County Detention Center. Picking up two additional charges for the incident, which broke the jailer’s nose, is 34-year-old Marissa Nicole Schofer of Gamaliel.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a female jailer was escorting Schofer from the shower back to her cell when Schofer grabbed items from a laundry cart. The jailer instructed the inmate she could not take the items, and as she tried to get them away from her, Schofer punched the jailer in the nose.
The jailer was taken to Baxter Health where doctors confirmed her nose was broken.
Schofer picked up new charges of battery in the second degree and impairing the operations of a vital public facility.
Schofer had similar incidents in July and April.
In July, Schofer punched a district court probation officer in the face and then spit in his face following a court appearance. She picked up felony charges of battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and a misdemeanor charge of battery for that incident.
In April, Schofer punched another jailer in the face after calling her back to complain about not getting commissary. She was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer for that incident.
