The Mountain Home High School boys’ basketball team began the Searcy Classic on Monday by winning an unusual game. The Bombers picked up their second win over Batesville with a 48-36 decision.

Both teams had a good start on the offensive end as the game was tied at 17 at the end of the opening quarter, but the shooting struggles came out in the next frame. Mountain Home scored four points in the second period, and the Pioneers were held to a goose egg. Batesville continued to struggle in the third quarter as all six of their points came at the free throw line. The Pioneers finally hit another field goal two minutes into the final period, and the Bombers went on to win by a dozen.

Ryder McClain led Mountain Home with 16 points, and Braiden Dewey added 13. Shane Dunlap scored 14 points for Batesville.

The Pioneers fall to 1-2 on the season. The Bombers improve to 4-1, and their next game in the Searcy Classic will be Friday against Newport.
