
Two of Mountain Home’s junior high boys’ basketball teams were able to pick up wins at Harrison on Thursday.
The Junior Bombers squeaked by the Junior Goblins 34-33 in the freshman contest. Bailor Tate led Mountain Home with 10 points. The Junior Bombers improve to 3-4 on the season.
Mountain Home breezed past Harrison 45-16 in the eighth grade contest. The Eighth Grade Bombers were led by Max Bryant with 11 points. Mountain Home is now 3-1 on the year.
Mounain Home did not fare as well in junior high girls’ basketball as they were swept in three games at home by Harrison.
The Junior Lady Bombers ended up falling to the Junior Lady Goblins in the varsity contest by a final score of 30-23.
The junior varsity contest ended with Mountain Home getting edged out by Harrison 18-16. The Junior J.V. Lady Bombers fall to 1-2 on the season.
The evening began with Mountain Home losing the seventh grade game to Harrison 27-13. Maycie Carlson was the Seventh Grade Lady Bombers’ top scorer with 13 points. Mountain Home’s record drops to 1-6.
On the high school level, the Anstaff Bank Bev Stone Memorial Border Classic continued at Omaha.
Cotter’s girls finished second in the tournament with a 54-50 victory over Green Forest. Emma Jones paced the Lady Warriors with 21 points, and Addi Decker added 10.
Omaha had a rough night in the other girls’ game. The host Lady Eagles suffered a 72-20 defeat at the hands of Jasper.
The Cotter boys did not fare as well as their female counterparts. The Warriors were eliminated from the tournament with a 66-56 loss to Green Forest.
Omaha ended up losing the other boys’ contest. The Eagles came up just short as they fell to Berryville 59-58.
Elsewhere, Flippin’s boys lost at home 54-48 to another group of Bobcats from Marshall. Flippin was led by Rilyn Robbins with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Christian Wire chipped in 13 points. For Marshall, Bryce Griffin scored 18 points and grabbed 10 boards, Payton De Priest had 16 points, and Cole Harness finished with 10 points.
The Calico Rock boys had a rough outing in Greers Ferry. The Pirates lost a conference game to West Side by a 63-37 decision.
A high-scoring boys’ game went down to the wire in Bakersfield as the Lions were edged out by Mammoth Spring 81-79. Garet O’Dell was the Bears’ leading scorer with 29 points, Blake Rogers ended up with 21, Curtis Michaels provided 14, and Caleb Michaels added 12 points.
Salem’s girls came out victorious in their first game in the Williams Baptist University High School Tournament at Walnut Ridge. Salem was able to defeat another group of Lady Greyhounds from Marmaduke 68-48. Marleigh Sellars led Salem with 24 points.
Salem was not as fortunate in boys’ action as they hosted Valley Springs. The Greyhounds fell to the Tigers 67-38.
Two area girls’ teams won their openers in the Charles B. Dyer Classic at Alma.
Mammoth Spring invoked the mercy rule as they routed Greenland 72-27. The Lady Bears were led by Brynn Washam with 18 points, Adrianna Corbett scored 13, Molly Corbett had 11, and Tay Davis chipped in 10 points.
Bergman captured the last game of the evening. The Lady Panthers defeated Alma by a score of 58-36.
Bergman’s boys ended up losing their semifinal game in the V-Town Showdown at Vilonia. The Panthers fell to the host Eagles 64-47.
The Valley Springs girls had a successful start to the Benton Holiday Classic. The Lady Tigers got past the host Lady Panthers 57-54.
