Fayetteville tops Bentonville for Class 7A state title

The long list of state championships boasted by Fayetteville High School’s athletic program just got a little bigger. The Class 6A title football game ended Saturday with the Bulldogs getting past Bentonville 22-16 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Fayetteville quarterback Drake Lindsey was the game’s most valuable player after completing 27 passes out of 38 attempts for 355 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Mason Spencer was the Purple Dogs’ top receiver with six catches for 101 yards, and Jaison Delemar had eight receptions for 94 yards.

For Bentonville, Carter Nye was 21-of-35 through the air with 329 yards and two touchdowns. CJ Brown caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Karsten Pate had five catches for 94 yards.

Fayetteville ends the season at 13-0. The Tigers fall to 9-4.
