The Mountain Home High School basketball teams were able to win their final games in the Searcy Classic on Saturday.

The Bomber boys were able to get past Cabot 57-56 in overtime. The game was close from start to end. The Panthers were up three until Ryder McClain hit a shot at the top of the arc with about 20 seconds left of regulation. Cabot tried to take the lead back but missed their second, third and fourth opportunities. Mountain Home’s ensuing buzzer beater attempt fell just short, forcing the extra period. The Bombers were up five near the end of overtime, but the Panthers had an opportunity at a three-point play after a foul on a layup. The free throw was missed, but Cabot got the rebound and ended up with another and-one opportunity to tie the game. The Panthers missed another free throw but got another rebound and called timeout. They tried a three on the left wing for the win, but it came up short.

Ryder McClain and Blaine Tate led Mountain Home with 13 points each, and Rhett Gilbert and Braiden Dewey each added 11. The Bombers improve to 6-1 on the season.

The girls’ game was more lopsided as Mountain Home routed Southside Batesville. The Lady Bombers controlled the game from the tip. Mountain Home was up 51-11 at halftime, and the turbo clock went into effect at the start of the second half instead of the fourth quarter.

The Lady Bombers were led by Laykin Moore with 11 points, and Jayla Yonkers chipped in 10. Mountain Home is now 6-4 on the year.

Both Bomber teams will return to the Hangar on Tuesday when they meet Valley View.
