
A pair of Twin Lakes Area community members are being recognized on a national stage for their contributions to a newly-released book celebrating autism’s “extraordinary talents.” Brigitte Shipman and her son, Joseph, were featured in “Superheroes on the Spectrum,” authored by Rev. Jeanette Paxia and Dr. Crystal Morrison and launched on Thursday.
According to a news release, “Superheroes on the Spectrum” goes beyond stereotypes unique abilities of individuals with autism. It offers a collection of stories and personal anecdotes from its contributors and highlights the talents and strengths often unnoticed within the autism spectrum.
Brigitte and Joseph Shipman bring their perspectives to the book with their personal experiences in the world of autism. According to the release, “Brigitte and Joseph have demonstrated their exceptional talents and have contributed immensely to the book’s mission of promoting a more inclusive understanding of autism.”
