
Three girls’ basketball games were held as Flippin hosted its first Billy Ply Classic of the season on Saturday. Norfork topped Harrison 55-39, the host Lady Bobcats fell to Jasper 69-68 in double overtime, and Yellville-Summit lost to Marmaduke 64-48.
The Izard County Tournament ended with Flippin capturing the senior boys’ title. The Bobcats got past Izard County 75-71 on Saturday at Highland.
Rilyn Robbins, the tournament’s most valuable player, paced Flippin with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Alex Glenn provided 23 points. Gabe Spray finished with 38 points for the Cougars.
Flippin improves to 14-4, and Robbins was joined on the All-Tournament team by Glenn, Dominic Hamilton and Christian Wire.
Izard County was also the runner-up of the senior girls’ bracket. The Lady Cougars lost the title game to Melbourne 63-44.
Flippin was also able to capture the junior boys’ championship. The Junior Bobcats topped Highland by a final of 51-46.
The first championship trophy was won by Mountain View’s junior girls. The Junior Lady Yellowjackets breezed past Highland 48-28.
Bakersfield’s boys finished third in the Mansfield Invitational Tournament. The Lions won a high-scoring game over Willow Springs 82-67.
The Bergman girls won the consolation title of the Tournament of Champions at Southside High School in Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers squeaked by Van Buren 50-48.
Harrison’s boys went undefeated in the Arvest Hoopfest at Heritage High School in Rogers. The Goblins wrapped up the weekend with a 75-66 win over Conway.
