
The Mountain Home High School boys’ basketball team had a rough outing as they returned home Tuesday to host Rogers. Matt Sharp has the recap.

The Bombers ended up losing to the Mounties 51-37. It was a game in which Mountain Home struggled all night on the offensive end as they were held to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters. Shots didn’t seem to be falling for the Bombers, and they also committed 18 turnovers on the night, compared to just seven for Rogers. The Mounties built a lead as big as 20 in the third quarter. Mountain Home cut the margin down to 10 in the final period, but Rogers went on to post the 14-point victory.
Rhett Gilbert led the Bombers with 11 points, and Braiden Dewey added 10. For the Mounties, Nathaniel Jones scored 18 points, Amari Jones had 12, and Rex Krout chipped in 10.
Rogers improves to 6-4 on the season. Mountain Home falls to 8-3, and they’ll have their last trip of 2023 on Saturday. The Bombers will go to Harrison to meet Fair Grove, Missouri, in the North Arkansas College Border Wars.
Mountain Home also came up on the losing end in the freshman game. The Junior Bombers’ lead slipped away in the final period as they were edged out by Rogers 33-30.
The Mountain Home High School girls will hit the road on Friday as they go up against Paragould.
