
Basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule as Bakersfield’s boys will play their opener in the Mustang Classic at McDonald County High School in Anderson. The Lions meet Rush at 7:30.
Three area high school will compete in the semifinals of the Battle of the Border at Mammoth Spring. On the boys’ side, the host Bears face Highland at 5:45, and Izard County takes on Mountain View-Liberty at 8:15. The Mammoth Spring girls play Alton at 7.
In other high school action, Norfork will send two girls’ teams to Paragould to meet Greene County Tech, Flippin travels to Timbo, Bakersfield’s girls make the trip to Seymour, the Gainesville girls host Sparta, Dora’s boys entertain Eminence, Lead Hill heads to Mount Judea, and the Harrison girls travel to Rogers.
On the junior high varsity level, Salem is home against Tuckerman, Melbourne makes the trip to Walnut Ridge, Rural Special heads to Heber Springs, Bergman travels to Elkins, and Omaha makes the trip to Green Forest.
In junior high junior varsity basketball, Cotter hosts Yellville-Summit.
