In Mayfield, Kentucky, a body discovered nearly 25 years ago at the bottom of a lake has been identified as an Arkansas fugitive.
KARK News reports that on May 6, 1999, two fishermen found human remains in Lake Barkley that were wrapped in heavy tire chains and anchored by a hydraulic jack. Through advanced DNA testing, investigators identified the remains as Roger Dale Parham. The 52-year-old was living in Fort Smith, Arkansas awaiting trials on various criminal charges, including a rape involving a minor. In March of 1999, he disappeared.
Earlier this year, investigators collaborated with forensic genealogy scientists, which led them to a relative of Parham — this break helped them identify him, according to the Kentucky State Police. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
