
High school basketball makes up the local Wednesday and includes Mountain Home hosting its big tournament. A total of 16 teams will take part in the three-day Ultimate Auto Group Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Bombers will start off with a rematch against Paragould. Mountain Home is currently 9-4 after beating Nettleton on Dec. 19. The Lady Rams fell to Little Rock Parkview a week ago to drop to 1-11. The Lady Bombers routed Paragould 59-21 on Dec. 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:40.
In the other girls’ game at Bomber Gymnasium, Mammoth Spring and Farmington tip off at 3. On the junior high campus, Salem and Cabot get underway at 3, and Flippin meets Dumas at 5:40. Click here for the girls’ bracket.
The Mountain Home boys will compete in one of the last games of the night as they face Junction City. The Bombers have a record of 10-3 following their win over Nettleton eight days ago. According to Scorebook Live, the Dragons are 5-1 on the year as they come off a win over Star City. Gametime is set for 7.
The other boys’ game at the Hangar will pair Cotter with Farmington at 4:20. In the junior high gym, Flippin takes on Paragould at 4:20, and Greene County Tech plays Dumas at 7. Click here for the boys’ bracket.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament will continue at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. On the girls’ side, Valley Springs and Kingston tip off at 4, and Rural Special meets Jasper at 6:40. On the boys’ bracket, Jasper faces Kingston at 5:20, and Norfork takes on Rural Special at 8.
Three area boys’ teams will compete on the second day of the Cabool Holiday Tournament. In consolation action, Viola plays Houston at 9, and Dora will be matched up with Winona at 10:30. Gainesville meets Mountain View-Liberty in the quarterfinals at 7:30.
The Lady Bulldog Holiday Tournament will resume at Gainesville. Bakersfield and Bradleyville get started at 2, and Gainesville face Couch at 3:30.
Viola’s girls will be in Pea Ridge for their opener in the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational. The Lady Longhorns take on Bauxite at 4.
The Salem boys will be in Manila for the start of the Big River Steel Lion Holiday Classic. The Greyhounds play the host Lions at 8:30.
Izard County’s girls return to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro for their Division 2 quarterfinal game in the NEA Tournament. The Lady Cougars go up against Buffalo Island Central at 10:30 at First National Bank Arena.
The Melbourne boys will be in Highland for their first game in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational. The Bearkatz meet Charleston at 5:30.
Two area schools will send their teams to Berryville to open the CS Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament. Omaha has a doubleheader with Clinton starting with the girls at 12:40, Bergman’s girls face Shirley at 3:20, and the Bergman boys take on Strong at 4:40.
