61-year-old Frederick Austin was charged with first degree murder and aggravated assault Tuesday after authorities said he shot and killed his son.
According to Shannon Hills Police, Austin was arrested following the shooting death of 28-year-old Frederick Austin II. Investigators stated the victim was struck by a bullet while trying to stop a fight between the father and another relative. Officers said the assault charge was related to the altercation with another relative.
He is being held in the Saline County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
