
The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament wrapped up its quarterfinal round Thursday at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. On the girls’ side, Norfork beat up on Alpena 69-28, and Mountain View topped Ozark Mountain 73-47. In the boys’ games, Yellville-Summit was eliminated by Mountain View 66-40, Marshall bounced Ozark Mountain 67-47, and Rural Special fell to Valley Springs 61-33.
Three area boys’ teams competed on the third day of the Cabool Holiday Tournament.
Viola was eliminated after losing to Dora 76-51. Braden Williams led the Longhorns with 21 points, and Quade Perryman added 14. Ashton Roberts scored 21 points for the Falcons, Carson Howard had 16, and Easton Carter chipped in 11.
Gainesville advanced to the fifth place game with a 61-48 win over Alton. The Bulldogs were led by Andrew Hambelton with 17 points, Easton McGee provided 12, and Harman Johns finished with 10.
Viola’s girls lost their semifinal game in the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational at Pea Ridge. The Lady Longhorns fell to the host school 53-17.
The Bakersfield boys were victorious in their first game in the Twelve Courts of Christmas at Kansas City. The Lions defeated Liberal 78-60.
Salem’s boys lost their second game in the Big River Steel Lion Holiday Classic at Manila. The Greyhounds fell to Caruthersville, Mo., 75-46.
Three area boys’ teams continued action in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational at Highland.
In the semifinals, Izard County was edged out by Cedar Ridge 61-59, and Melbourne lost to Osceola by a final of 63-55.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Mammoth Spring came up just short as they fell to Lincoln 64-62. Garet O’Dell was the Bears’ leading scorer with 18 points, and Blake Rogers ended up with 17.
The Melbourne girls won their first game in the Goldfish Classic at Lonoke. The Lady Bearkatz topped England 75-59.
The Lendel Thomas Classic got underway at Harrison. In the girls’ games, Marshall breezed past Highland 70-44, and Harrison lost to Earle 62-50. On the boys’ side, Marshall squeaked by Earle 77-74, and Harrison had a 57-48 win over Carthage, Mo.
Two area schools competed on the second day of the CS Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Berryville.
Bergman swept the host school in the semifinals. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Bobcats 57-42. Bergman also destroyed Berryville 61-32 on the boys’ bracket.
Omaha split its consolation games with Green Forest. The Eagles won the boys’ game over the Tigers 53-46. Omaha did not fare as well on the girls’ side as they fell to Green Forest 50-47.
