
The Baxter County Quorum Court met in regular session Tuesday night with a short agenda.
During the meeting Court approved two ordinances which corrected an unintentional oversight in the 2024 budget. The first ordinance approved was to appropriate funds in the amount of $19,000 from County General into the Prosecuting Attorney’s and Building and Grounds 2024 budget. The Prosecuting Attorney’s office will receive $5,000 for the gas/courthouse line item and Building and Grounds will receive $14,000 for contract labor.
The second ordinance will appropriate funds in the amount of $2,688 into the Public Defender’s budget into the retirement line item.
The Court also approved resolutions to appoint Dani Pugsley and reappoint David Matty to the Cotter/Gassville Rural Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners. Both Pugsley and Matty’s terms will expire February 2027.
Pamela Syfrett, Jack Coy and Ben Tate were approved by the Court to be appointed to the Buford Volunteer Fire Department Board of Commissioners. Their terms are set to expire in February 2027.
In addition, the Court approved an ordinance to appropriate fees and reimbursements received in December to the Sheriff’s Office 2023 budget.
