Saturday basketball results include Cotter girls falling, Norfork girls winning in district title games

There was plenty of high school basketball on Saturday as district tournaments came to an end in Arkansas.

Cotter was the site for the championship games of the 2A-1 District Tournament.
The top-seeded Lady Warriors ended up with a rough outing on their home floor. Cotter suffered a 61-44 defeat at the hands of Ozark Mountain.
Yellville-Summit finished as the runner-up on the boys’ side. The Panthers fell to Greenland 58-50 in overtime.

The title games of the 1A-2 District Tournament were played at West Side High School in Greers Ferry.
Norfork’s girls were able to win another district championship. The top-seeded Lady Panthers breezed past Concord 48-28.
The boys’ contest ended with Rural Special as the runner-up. The Rebels lost to West Side by a score of 60-48.

Salem was the host school for the championship games of the 3A-2 District Tournament.
The top-seeded Lady Greyhounds celebrated their district title in front of their home crowd. Salem defeated Mountain View 60-47.
Mountain View also came up short in the boys’ game. The top-seeded Yellowjackets were upset by Tuckerman 62-60 in overtime.

Marshall had mixed results as they competed in the title games of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell. The Bobcats won the boys’ championship with a 64-55 victory over Sloan-Hendrix. Marshall did not fare as well in the girls’ game as they fell to Mount Vernon-Enola 55-29.

The championship games of the 1A-1 East District Tournament were held at Jasper. Omaha lost the boys’ game to the host Pirates 62-49. Jasper had a different result in the girls’ contest as they were edged out by Kingston 58-55.
