The Izard County Sheriff’s Office has identified a scam call going around Izard County.
According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, the caller identifies themselves as being from a local energy provider stating a bill has not been paid and power will be shut off. The caller asks for the bill to be paid using an app or gift cards. One of the phone numbers reported to be used is 601-351-4400.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Office advises anyone who receives a call like this should not provide any information or payment and call the energy provider on their customer service number located on the bill.
