On Thursday, Ranger Boats reduced its workforce by 70 jobs in their Flippin plant.

According to a representative from Bass Pro Shops, parent company for Ranger Boats, they stated “Similar to others in the marine industry we needed to make adjustments to our operations in response to the current soft demand for marine products and the overall economic climate.”

Representatives state they will continue to employ over 500 in the Flippin community.

In a statement released from Bass Pro, they state, “We are grateful for the contributions of these team members and will be supporting them through this transition. We are proud to be a part of the Flippin community and have recently expanded our product lineup to include manufacturing of custom trailers and aluminum boats. As the leader in the marine industry, we have strived to deliver unmatched value and performance to our customers and believe that because of this, we have been less impacted than many others in our industry.”

In addition to Flippin, 85 position were eliminated at the Lebanon, Mo. plant and 21 at the Boliver, Mo. plant.
