One of two people arrested in Gassville on drug and theft by receiving charges appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

The two facing charges are 46-year-old Branden Dale Cornwell who list numerous addresses, including Hot Springs Village and Tontitown, and 29-year-old Chelsea Rae Holland of Gassville.

Holland pled guilty to the charges against her and was sentenced to six years probation. Cornwell has been an inmate in the Baxter County Detention Center since October 2 last year.

Court records show the two have had numerous run-ins with the law. Charges of various kinds have been placed against one or both in Baxter, Polk, Garland, Clark and Washington Counties.

Cornwell leads in the case count. His first charge came in 2013. Holland’s earliest case goes back to 2015.

Charges filed against the pair range from traffic violations to drug-related crimes.

The charges filed against them recently stem from the search for a single vehicle stolen from a Gassville business in early October.

The investigation into the vehicle theft led to a residence along Arrowhead Drive where Holland and Cornwell were reported to live.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the stolen vehicle was recovered at the location. Investigators also saw in plain view a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine.

Holland, whose name was on the lease, refused a request to carry out a search of the house.

A search warrant was obtained and officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia in various parts of the residence. A member of the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force came to the residence to assist in the search.

The DTF agent saw a plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance, along with a spoon and “torch lighter.”

Following the search, the substance in the bag was reported to have tested positive for methamphetamine.

In addition, drug paraphernalia was found, including syringes, and a small plastic bag with eight pills identified as Oxycodone.

The stolen vehicle was also searched and it contained items that had been reported stolen from an apartment in Lakeview. The resident had been in the hospital at the time of the break-in.

Checks were found in the vehicle that belonged to the Lakeview victim. One of the checks was made out to Holland for $600.

After being released from the hospital, the victim examined the check and said he had not signed it and did not even know Chelsea Holland.

The owner of the stolen vehicle came to the address in Gassville, identified and reclaimed his vehicle.

At the time they were arrested, Cornwell was listed as a parole absconder and Holland was on felony probation.
