
The Yellville-Summit High School track teams took home both championship trophies from the 2A-1 Conference Meet Wednesday at Eureka Springs.
Cotter took fifth place on the boys’ side. Brooks Cheek represented the Warriors by winning the discus and taking second place in the shot put. For the Panthers, Kyloh Koksma won the 110-meter hurdles; Kobyn Hubbard won the 300-meter hurdles; Rafe Heap won the 800-meter run; Jaxon Whitsell won the pole vault; and Eden Hardy, Sebestian Phillips, Copper Swearingen and Heap won the 4×800-meter relay.
In the girls’ team standings, Ozark Mountain finished fifth, and Cotter was sixth. Individually for the Lady Warriors, Ellesandra Lee won the discus. For the Lady Panthers, KJ-Keirstin Moore won the 100-meter and 400-meter dashes, the high jump and the long jump; Riley Hopson won the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs; Bailey Ervin won the 200-meter dash; Hannah Hayward won the triple jump; Piper Bone won the shot put; Fay Chism won the pole vault; Greysen Dearmore, Abby Methvin, Moore and Hopson won the 4×800-meter relay; Hayward, Methvin, Moore and Kamiah Gerth won the 4×400-meter relay; Blair Castle, Dearmore, Chism and Rorie Cobb won the 4×200-meter relay; and Castle, Hayward, Dearmore and Methvin won the 4×100-meter relay. The Lady Bears top performance came from Jasmine Fletcher, Hannah Wheeler, Chloe Marshall and Tara Yocham as they ended up third in the 4×100-meter relay.
Both of the titles in the 3A-2 Conference Meet were captured by Salem at Pocahontas.
Melbourne took second place on the boys’ side, and Mountain View finished sixth. For the Greyhounds, Elijah Romine won the 300-meter hurdles and the shot put; Kaiden Hollis won the 200-meter dash; Jackson Taylor won the 400-meter dash; and the team of Caleb Leisenring, Hollis, Cole Stemen and Romine won the 4×100-meter relay. For the Bearkatz, Shawn Wortham won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, Hayden Edwards won the high jump, and Josh Hammock won the pole vault. For the Yellowjackets, Cole Hubberd won the 110-meter hurdles; Ladd Cook won the long jump; and Jack Newton, Kyle Corners, Ahdi Anandaraj and Cook won the 4×800-meter relay.
In the girls’ results, Mountain View was second, and Melbourne ended up third. For Salem, Marleigh Sellars won the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes; Madi Price won the shot put; the team of Katy Walling, Sellars, Olivia Dockins and and Chloe Taylor won the 4×100-meter relay; and Taylor, Walling, Montana Franks and Tinsley Leslie won the 4×200-meter relay. For Melbourne, Maci Webb won the 100-meter hurdles and the pole vault, and Sunny Ramsey won the discus. For Mountain View, Ellie Akins won the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs; Kaitlyn McCarn won the 3200-meter run and the 300-meter hurdles; Emma Akins won the triple jump; Ellie and Emma Akins, Kaitlyn McCarn and Jaci Cooper won the 4×400-meter relay; and Ellie and Emma Akins and Kaitlyn and Kallie McCarn won the 4×800-meter relay.
