
The recent periods of rainfall have resulted in the Buffalo National River going above the flood stage in one of its areas.
The U.S. Geological Survey’s online map showed the river at six feet in Ponca just before midnight Sunday night. The flood stage for Ponca is above 5.59 feet.
While no other area of the river is above the flood stage, it is considered at a high level in the Pruitt area. The river measured 6.47 feet late Sunday night. Pruitt’s flood stage goes above 7.81 feet.
The Buffalo River is at moderate levels in three other areas. The river is at 5.74 feet near Harriet, 5.95 feet near St. Joe and 4.25 feet near Boxley.
The latest forecast has rain chances continuing through Thursday afternoon.
