A man has been arrested in Marion County for allegedly ramming another vehicle with his vehicle multiple times. Fifty-year-old James Ellington of Lead Hill is facing multiple charges for the incident.

According to information from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a dispute in Pyatt. They found two vehicles that had damage, including one with significant damage to the rear and side. The victim told a deputy he had dropped a female off at a house and Ellington had gotten in his vehicle and continued to rear end his truck as he drove through Pyatt.

Ellington was found standing outside the residence where the victim had dropped off the female. A deputy talked to the female inside who said she and Ellington have a child together. She says when the other man dropped her off, Ellington became upset and used his vehicle to ram the victim’s truck multiple times.

Ellington explained to deputies it was an accident and his “floor mat must have gotten stuck on top of the gas pedal.”

Ellington is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault along with misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, disorderly conduct, reckless driving and failure to report an accident. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender as he has four prior felony convictions.
