A vehicle fire occurred last weekend in Baxter County when batteries connected to a sound system were ablaze. No injuries were reported from the incident.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded July 6 to the intersection with Arkansas Highway 5 South and Sycamore Springs Road. The owner of the pickup truck, identified as Roy Davis of rural Mountain Home, stated he had batteries connected to the sound system behind the seat. Davis reportedly noticed smoke coming from the area and pulled over in a gravel parking lot.

Davis told the deputy he exited his vehicle and pulled up the driver’s seat to see where the smoke was coming from. The batteries reportedly caught fire and went up in flames too quick for him to put it out.

The report did not specify the extent of the damage.
