3rd daily rainfall record broken this month; 2024 enters top 5 among wettest July on record

The overnight rainfall has resulted in a daily rainfall record being broken for the third time in July, and this month will end up being in the top five among wettest Julys.

At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, a total of 2.97 inches of rain were recorded at 7 Wednesday morning. The previous record for July 17 was 1.2 inches, set in 1964.

The rain has also made this month the fifth wettest July with 8.09 inches of precipitation so far. The wettest July on record was in 1905 when 10.76 inches of rain fell.

Several flash flood warnings have been issued due to the rain. Warnings are in effect for southern Baxter, southern Marion, northeastern Searcy and northwestern Stone counties until 9 a.m.; for northwestern Baxter, northwestern Marion and northeastern Boone counties until 9; for central Marion County until 10:15; and for southwestern Ozark and eastern Taney counties until 10:45.
