
Wednesday’s early morning storms and heavy rains have resulted in multiple road closures being reported and emergency personnel conducting water rescue attempts.
Baxter County Office of Emergency Management Director David Stults says county crews are assisting Marion County crews in Flippin and Yellville with swift water search and rescue operations due to flooding issues. Stults also urges motorists to avoid the Denton Ferry area because of flooding.
Marion County Judge Jason Stumph says areas throughout the county are flooded. Judge Stumph says water is going over the bridge on Arkansas Highway 14 South near Yellville City Park. In addition, Marion County Road 8060 is closed due to flooding.
KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News has received other reports from various listeners. There are accounts of a large tree on fire in Lakeview with multiple fire departments responding. Another tree was reportedly down over Arkansas Highway 178 between Flippin and Fairview.
Another listener reported water over Highway 178 in front of Ranger Boats. There have also been reports from Yellville of water across U.S. Highway 62/412 and Highway 14 North. In addition, a listener said Highway 62/412 is closed at the intersection with Arkansas Highway 125 near the Butterball feed mill.
Caution is urged for motorists needing to be out Wednesday morning. Some areas have reportedly received 2 to 6 inches of rain overnight.
