A veteran of the Mountain Home School Board was selected to fill the vacant spot that came open in June. Neal Pendergrass will serve in Position 2 until the next election in May after the remainder of the board unanimously approved of his appointment.
Pendergrass had previously been on the board for 24 years. He says he received statewide recognition for being the longest-serving school board member in Mountain Home history.

During the interview process on Thursday, Pendergrass says one of the biggest challenges currently facing the board is public relations.

Pendergrass adds the budget also needs to be addressed, and he intends to look it over in the coming days. He also says facility needs had been identified before his previous tenure came to an end.
