Authorities are searching for a missing Little Rock man after his pickup truck was found abandoned in Newton County. Forty-one-year-old Clyde Holmes, also known as Clyde Boatwright Jr., is described as a 5-foot-10 black male with black dreadlocks.

According to Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler, his office was notified July 11 of a truck on a county road near Arkansas Highway 74 East between Jasper and Piercetown. A deputy responded and located the truck, but he was unable to locate anyone associated with it.

The truck was towed and entered into a nationwide law-enforcement computer network as abandoned. On Friday, a Little Rock Police Department detective contacted the Newton County Sheriff’s Office about the truck. Little Rock detectives have reportedly been working on a missing person’s case on the truck’s owner and discovered Newton County’s entry on the network. Deputies returned to the area and searched the truck but yielded no additional information on the owner’s whereabouts.

Holmes’ truck was known to be abandoned around 5 on the morning of July 11, but it’s unknown how long it was on the county road when initially spotted. The truck was previously known to be in Little Rock just before 12:30 that morning. Holmes has no known ties to Newton County.

Authorities from Newton County and Little Rock are working together on the investigation, and a K-9 unit has been contacted to assist in the search. Anyone with information on Holmes whereabouts should contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 870-446-5124 or the Little Rock Police Department at 501-404-3016.
