This weekend, shoppers in Arkansas and Missouri will see state and local sales taxes exempt on various items as local youth are just a couple of weeks from returning to the classroom.

The sales tax holiday in Arkansas begins at 12:01 Saturday morning and ends at 11:59 Sunday night. According to the Department of Finance and Administration, shoppers in the Natural State will have the opportunity to purchase certain electronic devices, school supplies, school art supplies, school instructional materials and clothing free of state and local sales or use tax.

In Missouri, the tax-free weekend begins at 12:01 Friday morning and continues through Sunday night. The Missouri Department of Revenue states qualifying items include school supplies, personal computers and clothing.

All retailers are required to participate and may not charge state and local sales or use tax on items legally tax-exempt during the holiday period.
