A Boone County woman has been arrested again for assaulting her estranged husband. Fifty-eight-year-old Melody Jane Tapprich of rural Harrison is facing three charges for her latest arrest and was so tired from resisting, she even asked the deputies to carry her to their patrol car.

According to the probable cause affidavit, both Tapprich and her estranged husband called the sheriff’s office to report a physical assault in progress. Tapprich said her husband was trying to run over her with his truck which is what she was arrested for originally. The husband said Tapprich was cutting him with a razor blade knife, he had escaped to a neighbor’s house and he needed an ambulance.

When deputies arrived, they found Tapprich in the driveway of her residence. She began to walk towards the house and was ordered to stop but refused. Once officers caught her and placed her in handcuffs she screamed “Don’t taser me.” She was actively resisting and tried to get away from deputies. After a short struggle, deputies assisted her down the driveway and Tapprich asked the deputies “Will you carry me?”

She continued to struggle with deputies as they put her into a patrol car and at one point, broke the clip that holds one of the deputy’s body camera.

The deputies then spoke with the victim who said Tapprich was upset because he would not let her drive the truck. He was in the driver’s seat and she reached through the window and stared cutting him with the knife. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Tapprich is facing a felony count of second degree domestic battery and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and resisting arrest. She is being held in the Boone County Detention Center on bonds totaling $50,000.

Tapprich was previously arrested for getting in her truck and ramming into their son’s car that was parked in the front yard and pushing it toward the front door of their residence. Her estranged husband says he feared for his life because if his son’s car wasn’t parked by the front porch, Tapprich’s truck could have rammed into the front door where he was standing.

For that incident, Tapprich is facing felony charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member, residential burglary and criminal mischief along with misdemeanor charges of assault on a family or household member, obstructing governmental operations, refusal to submit to arrest, fleeing, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. Her bonds for that incident total $10,000.
