During a recent meeting, the Mountain Home City Council approved of a project to improve the baseball facility at Cooper Park. Lester White Field is set to undergo a full renovation.

Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Director Daniel Baxley says the improvements are needed since the field has gone through an increase in usage over the last couple of years.

Baxley says the last time the field underwent a renovation of this size was in the 1990s.

Baxley goes on to say he doesn’t see the project affecting much of the ability of the ASU-Mountain Home and American Legion baseball programs’ usage of Lester White Field over the next few years.

The city council ended up transferring $71,625 from projected carryover funds to pay for the project. Baxley says the university will also be putting up some money to assist in the renovation.
