Bombers sweep Paragould in 5A East Conference Volleyball opener

The Bombers made a clear statement in the opener of the 5A East Conference Thursday evening as they swept Paragould.Mountain Home’s high school varsity team defended the Hanger from the Rams taking the win in the first 3 sets with scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-17. Anna McCarn had 11 kills, 4 blocks, 4 digs and 5 aces while Cara Jackson had 11 assists, 6 kills, 2 blocks, 10 digs, and 9 aces. Karleigh Drewry had 12 digs, with Micayla Magis posting 16 assists, 12 digs and Annyston Crooker contributed 4 kills, 3 blocks, and 3 digs. The varsity team is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference.

The high school junior varsity team won their match 25-22 with Maddie Simmons posting 6 digs, Ava Jones with 6 assists, 2 digs and Aleigh Lucas adding 3 kills.

The junior high school junior varsity team started the evening with 2 winning sets scoring 25-9 and 25-16. Avery Carson had 7 assists, 2 kills, 5 aces, 3 digs and Vanessa Shimmel had 4 aces, 1 kill, 1 block. The JV record stands at 3-0.

The JR high varsity squad lost the first set 21-25 but then course corrected for the win in the last two sets 25-17 and 15-6. Eliana Pepin had10 kills, 6 digs, 4 aces, Violet Daugherty had 21 assists, 5 digs, 4 aces and Shayn Wickersham contributed 6 digs and 1 ace. Their record stands at 3-0 for the season.
