The Baxter Bulletin, along with three other newspapers in north central Arkansas and south central Missouri, is under new ownership. Phillips Media Group has sold the papers as part of a deal with Carpenter Media Group, which is buying 16 newspapers and a print facility in Springfield from Phillips. The other newspapers in our area being sold include the Harrison Daily Times, West Plains Daily Quill, and Newton County Times.
Phillips Media Group purchased the Baxter Bulletin in August 2021. Rupert Phillips, President and CEO of Phillips Media Group was the Bulletin’s publisher in the mid-1970s. He also owned the Mountain Echo in Yellville and the Daily News in Mountain Home, which competed with the Bulletin daily for several years in the 1990s.
Phillips says, “It has been a pleasure to own and operate these great publications. Their future will be in good hands with Carpenter Media Group, a company focused on continuing the tradition of providing a quality newspaper for their local communities.”
Carpenter Media Group now owns over 250 newspapers, magazines, websites, and other businesses in the United States and Canada.
