A Baxter County Woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a purse from a vehicle. Thirty-one-year-old Adrianna Haarstad is facing charges of theft of property and breaking or entering for the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on September 10, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft in the parking lot of a business. The victim stated she had entered the business around 7:30 and returned to her vehicle approximately an hour later. When she returned, she realized her purse was missing. She said she had left it in the passenger seat floorboard and covered it with some clothes. The purse, valued at $200, contained $700 in cash, the victim’s bottom dentures, valued at $1,500, and other items totaling over $2,400.
Management from the business reviewed video surveillance of the parking area and observed the victim’s vehicle and a black four-door sedan parked on the driver’s side of the victim’s car. The video footage showed the other vehicle’s owner sitting on the pavement outside the business. The passenger, identified as Haarstad, was observed exiting the store, walking in front of the victim’s vehicle and between both parked cars. She was seen bending down near the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle before standing up and looking around the area.
Haarstad appeared to be speaking to someone when she opened the car door and went out of view briefly. When she returns to view, Haarstad is seen getting into the passenger seat of the black vehicle and driving away.
The person with Haarstad at the time of the incident was contacted and interviewed at Baxter County Criminal Investigation Division (CID). She admitted she was the driver and she was with Haarstad. She stated she did not know Haarstad was taking the purse; however, video footage revealed she was fully aware and participated in the theft.
Haarstad was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center, where she faces one felony count of theft of property and one felony county of breaking or entering. She was released on a $1500 bond.
