A briefing from the Alma Police Department is scheduled for Tuesday morning regarding a nearly 30-year-old kidnapping case in Arkansas.

According to a news release, Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer will hold a briefing Tuesday morning at 10:30 to report “a significant development” in the investigation of the 1995 kidnapping of Morgan Nick.

Nick was last seen on June 9, 1995, at the Alma Little League Ball Field after going to catch fireflies with other children.

In November 2021, the FBI said Billy Jack Lincks, of Crawford County, was being investigated as a person of interest in the case. He died in prison in 2000 and had been arrested for attempting to abduct a girl months after Nick went missing. Lincks was serving a sentence for sexual indecency with a child.

In April 2021, Alma police released a photo showing a truck with a camper known to be at the ball field at the time of Nick’s disappearance. An age-progression photo of what Nick might have looked like at the age of 31 was released by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in June 2020.

Nick’s disappearance led to the creation of the Morgan Nick Foundation, intending to help find Nick and other missing children.
