Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Attorney Bilenda Harris-Ritter as a temporary state Supreme Court Justice in the lawsuit over the proposed medical marijuana amendment.

Harris-Ritter will fill in for Chief Justice John Dan Kemp, who recused himself on the lawsuit. Supreme Court Justice Courtney Hudson also recused herself, meaning Sanders has one more temporary appointment.

This comes after Secretary of State John Thurston said votes would not be counted toward the amendment due to organizers not meeting the signature requirement and the ballot committee, Arkansans for Patient Access, filed a lawsuit challenging Thurston’s decision.
