The high school football regular season in Arkansas comes to an end Friday, and Mountain Home will be on the road for another big matchup. A conference championship and a first round bye in the state playoffs are on the line for the Bombers as they meet Greenwood in a battle between teams in the Arkansas Sports Media Top 10.
Mountain Home, currently 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the 6A-West, has already clinched home field advantage for its postseason opener. They trail the Bulldogs by one game in the league standings. The Bombers, ranked 10th overall and third in Class 6A, were able to dominate Van Buren last week on Senior Night.
Greenwood is the No. 3 overall team by the Arkansas Sports Media and No. 1 in Class 6A. The Bulldogs are 9-0 and 6-0 after beating Fort Smith Southside in their first game following the tragic loss of wide receiver Isaiah Arrington.
If Mountain Home defeats Greenwood, the two teams will share the conference title, and the Bombers will win the tiebreaker for the league’s top seed in the Class 6A State Playoffs. Mountain Home will also clinch a first round bye if Shiloh Christian loses at Van Buren. If the Bombers lose to the Bulldogs and the Saints beat the Pointers, Mountain Home will play in the first round as the No. 3 seed.
Bombers’ head coach Steve Ary says his team knows there’s a lot riding on this week’s game.

Elsewhere in the 6A-West, Russellville travels to Pearcy to meet Lake Hamilton, and Siloam Springs hosts Southside.
Yellville-Summit will wrap up its season in front of the home crowd. It’s Senior Night as the Panthers welcome Episcopal Collegiate in from Little Rock.
Yellville-Summit is currently 2-7 on the season and 0-6 in the 3A-2. The Panthers are coming off a loss at the hands of Atkins. Episcopal is 0-9 and 0-6. The Wildcats suffered four-touchdown defeat last week at Melbourne.
Yellville-Summit head coach Chaseton McCarthy says he is looking to send his senior class out with a conference victory.
