Thursday basketball results include MHCA boys losing at Viola

The Mountain Home Christian Academy varsity boys’ basketball team had a rough night on the road. The Eagles suffered an 80-45 defeat at the hands of Viola.

Gainesville’s boys picked up a win on the consolation side of the bracket in the Forsyth Tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Hollister 64-43. Gainesville will compete for fifth place on Saturday.

The Salem girls won their semifinal game in the Williams Baptist University High School Tournament after beating Tuckerman 51-42. Hadley Reed was the top-seeded Lady Greyhounds’ top scorer with 19 points.

Izard County’s boys lost their opener in the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic at Jonesboro. The Cougars fell 75-37 to De Smet Jesuit from Creve Couer, Mo.

The Dora girls finished seventh in the Fordland Invitational Tournament on Thursday. The Lady Falcons defeated Conway 56-40.

Marshall’s girls were eliminated from the Bev Stone Memorial Tournament at Omaha. The Lady Bobcats lost to Jasper 70-50.

Lead Hill swept a pair of boys’ games over Deer.
The Tigers won the senior high game over the Antlers 68-48. Dawson Lively paced Lead Hill with 23 points.
Lead Hill also took the junior high contest over Deer 35-18. The Junior Tigers were led by Jacob Francis with 12 points.

The Valley Springs High School girls destroyed Kingston 71-16. Macy Willis was the Lady Tigers’ leading scorer with 14 points, Laramie Watkins had 13, Jada Wray recorded 12, Tayla Trammell finished with 11, and Violet Games added 10 points. Valley Springs improves to 12-2 on the season.

Harrison went across the state line and won both of its openers in the Freedom Bank Willard Basketball Classic. The Goblins won their boys’ game over Belton, Mo., 58-37. Harrison’s girls topped the host Lady Tigers 56-41.
