
Officials with the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) provided an update following a tragic sequence of events on Wednesday evening, which involved a fatal stabbing, a second woman injured, and an officer-involved shooting that resulted in a death.
At approximately 8:25 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting an assault at a residence in the 2100 block of South State Street. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a vehicle had crashed into the home at 2108 South State Street.
As officers entered the home to check for anyone inside, they found a woman who had been fatally stabbed. The fire department was also called to the scene to address a gas leak in the residence. While securing the area, officers located a second woman at 2104 South State Street, also suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was quickly transported to a local hospital and remains in serious condition.
Shortly afterward, a separate group of officers encountered an individual covered in blood in the 1600 block of Broadway. According to reports, officers attempted to make contact with the individual, who refused to comply with commands and advanced toward them while holding a knife. In response, police fired shots, and the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. At this time, authorities have not released the identities of the victims or the individual involved in the officer-involved shooting, as the case remains an open investigation.
