
The Mountain Home seventh grade boys’ basketball team had mixed results in the Cave City Seventh Grade Tournament on Saturday. The Seventh Grade Bombers first defeated Highland 33-22 before falling to the host Seventh Grade Cavemen 38-27.
On the high school level, the North Arkansas College Invitatonal Tournament came to an end at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison, and Valley Springs swept both titles.
Yellville-Summit’s boys fell to the Tigers 45-33. In the other boys’ games, Norfork lost the consolation title game to Jasper 75-41, and Marshall fell to West Fork 78-51.
After being down 23 at the end of the third quarter, Valley Springs outscored Marshall 36-4 in the final period for the 70-61 victory. Macy Willis led the Lady Tigers with 32 points, and Jada Wray added 22.
Also on the girls’ side, Norfork fell to Yellville-Summit 45-33 in the third place game, and Jasper breezed past West Fork 57-37 for the consolation title.
The Rumble in the Rock Basketball Tournament ended at Calico Rock with one of the host teams keeping the championship trophy.
The Pirates won the boys’ title as the squeaked by Mammoth Spring 60-57. In the other boys’ games, Kingston topped Midland 74-56, and Hillcrest got past Koshkonong 54-49.
Calico Rock finished as the runners’ up on the girls’ side after falling to Kingston 64-48. In addition, Mammoth Spring beat Koshkonong 65-38, and Cedar Ridge topped Hillcrest 52-43.
Izard County’s boys won their opener in the Kell Classic at Swifton as they routed Tuckerman 68-28. The Cougars were led by Gabe Spray with 21 points, and Benjamin Tuschak chipped in 14. Izard County improves to 9-8 on the season.
Bergman ended up splitting with Lamar at the Arkansas Sports Network Classic on the campus of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. The Panthers took the boys’ game over the Warriors 68-57. Bergman did not fare as well in the girls’ contest as they lost to Lamar 54-50.
