A registered sex offender has moved to northern Baxter County after relocating from Oregon. Forty-six-year-old Erik Deans is residing at 61 Pretty Lane, between Clarkridge and Three Brothers.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Deans has not been assigned a risk level by the Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment. He was convicted in April 2001 in Henderson, Nev., of attempted statutory sexual seduction, considered to be a gross misdemeanor in Nevada. Available information does not provide any other details concerning this incident. Deans was also later convicted in March 2004 of failure to register as a sex offender in Nevada.

Deans is currently not wanted by law enforcement. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
