A member of the Cotter High School volleyball team was recently named to one of the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star rosters. That was one of several accolades for Lady Warrior senior libero Addison Decker after she broke the school records for the most digs in a single match and in a single season, and her team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 2A State Tournament.
The first record was shattered on Sept. 27 when Cotter played at Flippin. In the Lady Warriors’ four-set victory over the Lady Bobcats, Decker ended up with 46 digs on the night. She says she didn’t know for certain that she had set a new mark until days later.

When the season ended, Decker’s second record was set as she finished the year with 430 digs. She ended up averaging 20 1/2 digs per match.
Decker was a part of a Cotter team that finished with a record of 16-6. The Lady Warriors were the 2A-2 Conference and District Tournament runners-up, and they also finished second in the Class 2A East Regional Tournament. That got Cotter a first round bye in the state tournament before they were eliminated by Taylor in the quarterfinals. Decker says 2024 was a year in which the team seemed to get better as the season went on.

After the season, Decker was named to the All-Conference, All-State and All-State Tournament teams. She was later picked for the East’s All-Star roster at the end of last month, and she was joined by Coach Nikki Guthrie, who was selected as one of the team’s assistant coaches. Decker says her senior season was definitely one for the memory books.

Decker is currently not certain of her future plans. She says she has been in contact with a few coaches about the prospect of continuing volleyball on the collegiate level.
