Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule as the postseason continues for area junior high teams.
Both of Cotter’s teams will play in the championship games of the 2A-2 Junior District Tournament at Mammoth Spring. The Junior Lady Warriors face Izard County at 6, and the Cotter boys take on Sloan-Hendrix at 7:15.
The semifinals of the 3A-2 Junior District Tournament will be held at Salem. On the girls’ bracket, Melbourne and Mountain View get underway at 4, and Salem plays Bergman at 6. On the boys’ side, Yellville-Summit will be paired with Valley Springs at 5, and Flippin faces Melbourne at 7.
Both of Calico Rock’s teams will take on Greers Ferry West Side in the title games of the 1A-2 Junior District Tournament at Concord. The girls’ game tips off at 6 followed by the boys’ contest.
Both Lead Hill teams will play Jasper on their home floor in the championship games of the 1A-1 Junior District Tournament. The girls’ game starts at 5:30, and the boys’ contest will follow.
After being delayed by a day, Ozark Mountain will host the semifinals of the 2A-1 Junior District Tournament at Western Grove. The Junior Lady Bears will be matched up with Eureka Springs at 5, and the Ozark Mountain boys face Decatur at 6.
On the high school level, Norfork travels to Rector, Gainesville’s girls make the trip to Seymour, and the Lutie boys head to Mountain View-Liberty.
