One morning, while heading out to do laundry, James decided to buy two scratch-off tickets. On his first ticket, he won $500, and on the second, he won $50.
James thought that would be the end of his luck. However, his good fortune wasn’t over. Using his $50 winnings, James bought another $50,000 Frenzy ticket, scratched it off at home, and was shocked to find that the last row revealed the game’s $50,000 top prize.
When the reality of the win set in, he couldn’t wait to share the news with his best friend. She asked him what it meant, and he replied that it meant he won. Since then, James has shared his good fortune with his daughter and one other person. He plans to use the prize money to make improvements to his house.
In another part of the state, William McAtee from El Paso also won the $50,000 top prize on $50,000 Frenzy. He bought his winning ticket at El Paso Shell, located at 1820 Highway 64 W. in El Paso.
William discovered his win while still inside the store. An avid instant game player who scratches his tickets from right to left, William followed his usual routine. As he began scratching, he saw some zeros, and his curiosity grew. His excitement grew as he continued scratching and realized he had won $50,000.
William couldn’t believe it and was in shock. The first person William told was his youngest daughter, eager to see her reaction. She screamed with excitement. He has since shared the news with his other children and grandchildren. One of his grandkids commented that he was acting “kind of normal” for someone who had just won the lottery.
With his winnings, William plans to take care of his kids.
