Diamond State Networks (DSN) has officially promoted Jill McDaniel to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following her successful tenure as interim CEO since August 2024. McDaniel, who had previously served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), now steps into the permanent leadership role, poised to lead the company in advancing broadband initiatives across Arkansas.
Mitchell Johnson, chair of DSN’s board of directors, expressed confidence in McDaniel’s appointment, stating, “Our board of directors is pleased to have Jill in this leadership role. With deep expertise in the telecommunications industry and a strong background in strategic growth, she will drive our mission forward and enhance our impact throughout Arkansas for our stakeholders.”
A seasoned telecommunications professional, McDaniel brings over 25 years of experience to her new position, with past leadership roles at Irby Utilities, Ritter Communications, and Allo Communications. Over the last nine years, she has been a strong advocate for broadband accessibility, focusing specifically on expanding rural broadband initiatives.
“I’m honored to lead Diamond State Networks and work alongside such a dedicated team,” McDaniel said. “Our focus will remain on providing top-tier middle-mile infrastructure to our members and partners, empowering them to deliver reliable, high-speed internet to communities across Arkansas. As we expand our network, we’re committed to ensuring that every Arkansan has access to the digital tools they need to thrive.”
DSN, which is owned by 14 electric cooperatives in Arkansas, is embarking on the largest fiber optic broadband project in the state’s history, with a $1.8 billion network expansion that will span nearly 70% of the state. As CEO, McDaniel will continue to lead efforts to scale the network, which aims to provide essential middle-mile connectivity to remote regions and enable the expansion of last-mile broadband services throughout the state.
