The Mountain Home High School basketball teams had a rough night on the road Tuesday as they ended up getting swept by Farmington. Matt Sharp has the details.
Listen:
The evening began with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Cardinals 65-36. It wasn’t Farmington’s best shooting performance of the season, but the same could be said for Mountain Home. The Lady Bombers shot 22% from the floor, and they were held without a field goal in the entire third quarter. In addition, the Lady Cardinals ended up with more than 20 second chance points on the night. Farmington would invoke the mercy rule before going on to win by 29.
No one was in double figures for Mountain Home. Marin Adams led the Lady Cardinals with 18 points, and Easton McCollough added 16.
The Lady Bombers drop to 24-5 on the season and 10-3 in the 5A-West. Farmington improves to 25-1 and 13-0.
Mountain Home’s boys followed with a 62-44 loss to the Cardinals. While Farmington never trailed, the Bombers kept it fairly close for much of the contest. Mountain Home trailed by eight at the end of the first half. The two teams played even in the third period, but the Cardinals outscored the Bombers 20-10 in the final quarter to pull away at the end.
Mountain Home was led by Blaine Tate with 16 points. Ben Rockwell scored 14 points for Farmington, Eli Schwartzmann had 13, and Sam Kirkman chipped in 12.
The Bombers fall to 13-16 overall and 3-10 in the league. The Cardinals are now 24-5 and 11-2.
Both Mountain Home teams wrap up the regular season on Friday with a trip to Greenwood.
In other 5A-West boys’ action, Harrison breezed past Siloam Springs 67-40, Russellville defeated Greenwood 60-46, and Alma topped Van Buren 51-43. In the girls’ games, Harrison beat Siloam Springs 51-38, Greenwood destroyed Russellville 99-42, and Van Buren got past Alma 38-31.
