
Last Saturday, more than 50 people proved the cold didnt bother them as they plunged into the frigid waters at Henderson Park for the annual Polar Plunge.
The event raised over $12,000 for Special Olympics Arkansas, nearly doubling the amount collected the previous year.
The snowy weather which recently came through the Twin Lakes area couldn’t have been better timed for an event which seeks to brave the cold. Canda Reese says she is proud of all the plungers who braved the freezing water.

Many teams not only participated in the plunge, but the Mardi Gras costume contest also attracted a lot of visitors. Reese says some people came by just to donate to a great cause.

Many Polar Plunge events happen across Arkansas and money raised by the courageous cold water waders goes to provide Special Olympic athletes with equipment and supplies.
