Less than three months after winning its first state championship in program history, the Salem High School football team is in search of new leadership. During a special meeting on Tuesday, the Ozark School Board hired Greyhounds’ head coach Josh Watson for the same position with the Hillbillies.
In addition to leading Salem to the Class 3A state title, Watson ended up with several individual honors. He was selected as the Farm Bureau Class 3A Coach of the Year, All-Arkansas Preps Coach of the Year, Arkansas High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year and Arkansas Sports Network Coach of the Year. He was also named as the head coach for the East in this year’s All-Star football rosters.
Watson has led the Greyhounds for five seasons. He previously served as an assistant coach at Salem under Clay Wiggins.
