Storm halts varsity match at Bombers soccer open in Batesville

The Mountain Home High School soccer teams kicked off their season on the road Tuesday night, with the varsity boys’ match ending early due to inclement weather, both boys’ teams finishing in ties, and the Lady Bombers rolling to a dominant victory.In junior varsity action, Mountain Home and Batesville played to a 1-1 draw. Alan Gasperini scored the lone goal for the Bombers, while goalkeepers Ethan Clark and Shep Martin combined for eight saves.

The Lady Bombers secured the only win of the night, overpowering Batesville in a 7-2 victory.

The varsity boys’ match was stopped with about 20 minutes left in the second half due to storms, resulting in a scoreless tie. Bomber goalkeeper Zach Padgett recorded eight saves before play was halted.

Mountain Home returns to action Friday as the boys’ team travels to Jonesboro for a tournament at Nettleton.
