Just over 12 hours after the Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team got the 65-56 overtime win over Little Rock Christian in the Class 5A State Tournament, it was confirmed Livi Fosness set a new record. The Lady Bomber junior’s 26 rebounds are the most ever in a state tournament game in Arkansas.

Fosness says as great as the record is, she was mainly happy to have won the game.

Fosness surpassed the previous mark of 25 rebounds, which Mountain Home also has a connection to. Cari Tanneberger of Fayetteville became the former record holder in 1994 when the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Bombers 75-73 in the eight-overtime state championship game.

This is Fosness’ second year with Mountain Home after she and her family relocated to the Twin Lakes Area from Minnesota. She says being a part of the Lady Bomber program has been the biggest game changer in her development as an athlete.

Fosness has been a key part of Mountain Home’s success this year. On Feb. 10, she was named Arkansas Girls’ Basketball Athlete of the Week by voters on High School on Sports Illustrated. Lady Bombers’ head coach Dell Leonard says Fosness is an example of someone with tremendous heart and work ethic.
